Sara Berinhout
Sara joined FIRE after six years of legal experience in private and public practice. After graduating magna cum laude from Harvard Law School in 2018, she joined Ropes & Gray LLP as a litigation associate. There, she spent five years representing clients in every stage of litigation and specializing in appellate practice, white-collar criminal defense, government investigations, and complex commercial litigation. Sara also served as a judicial clerk to the Honorable James C. Ho of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit before returning to Ropes & Gray as a senior associate. Following a brief period working as an assistant district attorney in Massachusetts, Sara enthusiastically joined FIRE in 2024.
Between college and law school, Sara also spent three years teaching English in Moscow, Russia, and she founded and operated a charitable nonprofit organization in Romania to provide impoverished rural communities with winter clothing, blankets, and school supplies. While Sara’s commitment to First Amendment principles long predates her time in Moscow, few experiences could have more effectively solidified that commitment!
In Sara’s free time she loves to write, listen to live music, try new foods, travel internationally, and explore New England with her husband and daughter.
