Barrett Fife

Administrative Assistant
Barrett Fife

A lifelong D.C.-area resident, Barrett Fife is thrilled to rejoin the FIRE team in their Washington, D.C., office after interning with FIRE in Philadelphia in summer 2021.

Barrett has been passionate about FIRE and its mission since she was 15, when she first read “The Coddling of the American Mind” (the original article) in The Atlantic. Though she was already interested in law, seeing how uniquely predisposed her generation had become to hostility towards the First Amendment motivated Barrett to pursue civil liberties advocacy and litigation.

Before joining FIRE, Barrett spent much of her career in politics, working on campaigns at the presidential, statewide, and local level, as well as in legislative offices in Washington, D.C., and the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Barrett studied government and philosophy at William & Mary and Oxford University, and she hopes to eventually pursue a career in law to better protect civil liberties across the country.

Outside of the office, Barrett is always eager to debate moral and political philosophy, visit the National Mall, and explore the D.C. music scene.
