Student members of a Young Americans for Freedom chapter at Transylvania University, a private institution in Kentucky, were required to stop tabling because they didn’t have an administrator’s prior approval before engaging in “activism” inside the university’s free speech zone. The day before, members of the Young Democratic Socialists of America had tabled in the same location without permission and without incident. FIRE wrote to Transylvania University in May 2019 calling on the university to abandon this unnecessary policy, and a student later complained to the university’s accreditor.
