Suffield, Connecticut: Proposed Town Green Policy
Cases
Case Overview
FIRE Victory closed
On January 17, Suffield’s Board of Selectmen considered a draft policy that would regulate the use of a grassy public space called the Town Green. The proposed policy contains numerous provisions that would infringe upon residents’ First Amendment right to engage in expressive activity on the Town Green, which is a traditional public forum. On February 15, FIRE wrote the Board of Selectmen urging them to revise the proposed policy. On February 29, 2024, Suffield’s First Selectman informed FIRE that the board will not move forward with the proposed policy.
