Stanford University: Flyers Promoting College Republicans Event Torn Down, Burned

On February 17, 2023, Stanford College Republicans tweeted that flyers for an upcoming stop on Matt Walsh’s “What is a Woman?” tour were torn down and burned on campus. Walsh’s event, which will be held on Stanford’s campus, has received no defense from the Stanford leadership. On March 1, FIRE wrote Stanford calling on university leaders to protect SCR’s free expression rights by ensuring flyers on campus aren’t vandalized or destroyed. On March 6, Stanford responded, stating that “removing posters does not comport with Stanford’s commitment to free speech.”
