On February 7, 2025, New Jersey’s Rowan University suspended its Students for Justice in Palestine chapter after receiving complaints that the organization’s welcome week flyer, which depicted a masked man with a keffiyeh holding a slingshot, glorified violence. On February 14, FIRE sent a public records request to the university and tweeted that the poster is protected expression. On February 18, the SJP chapter announced it had been reinstated.
