De Anza College: Livestream of Awards Ceremony Muted When Student-Athletes Criticize College

De Anza College appeared to mute portions of the livestream of an athletic awards event when student-athletes used their speeches to criticize the college’s treatment of the track team’s coach. FIRE wrote De Anza on August 28 explaining that while the college retains the authority to regulate the content it permits via audiovisual coverage of college events, selectively silencing its critics is not conducive to building a culture of free expression on campus.
