Alabama city bans signs containing ‘vulgar’ and ‘indecent’ content

The city of Arab, Alabama, passed an ordinance banning signs that contain “hate speech” or “vulgar,” “lewd,” or “indecent” content. On July 25, 2023, FIRE wrote the city, explaining that these restrictions are inherently content-based and thus violate the First Amendment.
