Joe Shanley
Joe graduated from The Pennsylvania State University in 2020. During his time at Penn State, Joe was involved in several initiatives to foster communication between students and administrators, including serving as a founding member of the Council of Sustainable Leaders.
After graduating, Joe began his professional career as a community planner for one of the fastest-growing counties in Pennsylvania, where he promoted public-private partnerships to achieve ambitious development goals. Throughout his time at Penn State and in government, Joe learned how critically important freedom of expression is. Wanting to devote his career to making impactful change for his local, state, and national community, there is no better place for him than FIRE. No matter the challenge, change starts with a freely spoken conversation.
When not at FIRE, Joe can be found hiking, running, scream-singing at a concert, listening to excessive amounts of electropop music, playing games (both video and board), and poring over maps.
