You’re Invited: FIRE-GMU Law Reception with Mary Beth Tinker!

Please join FIRE and George Mason University School of Law on Monday, February 15 for an open reception in honor of Mary Beth Tinker, petitioner in the landmark 1969 Supreme Court case Tinker v. Des Moines Independent Community School District.
At the reception, Mary Beth will say a few words about her role in this famous First Amendment case and discuss the current state of free speech on both college and high school campuses. Complimentary refreshments and hors d’oeuvres will be provided. The reception is open to the public, so feel free to swing by and bring a friend!
Before the reception, Mary Beth will speak to GMU Law’s Free Speech and the First Amendment course co-taught by FIRE President and CEO Greg Lukianoff and FIRE Director of Litigation Catherine Sevcenko. The lecture will focus on high school free speech issues, and there are still seats available for those interested in attending.
You can RSVP to the reception through the event Facebook page. If you are interested in attending the class lecture, please contact Haley Hudler at haley@thefire.org for more information.
