Thanks for Supporting FIRE As 'Tweets' Reach 300,000 People
Tuesday's swift victory at Duke brought a lot of excitement to our offices. Victories like these always remind me of how quickly and efficiently FIRE's method of using public scrutiny to expose abuses brings about favorable results—this time, it was only a matter of hours before the university's Women's Center ended its viewpoint discrimination. If it weren't for FIRE, thousands of students' fundamental rights would be cast aside by administrators pushing their own ideological agendas. Victories like this one really motivate us to continue our vital work with more fervor than before.
It also moves me to take the time to thank all of you for making this work possible. Without your letters, blogs, tweets, and donations, students at Duke and around the country would have almost nowhere to turn. Postings about Duke at Twitter.com ("tweets") alone reached about 300,000 people in a single day. Thank you for your past support, and thank you in advance for what your donations will allow us to accomplish throughout 2010 and beyond.
