WATCH: Broadcasters react to star QB's unusual protest.
“Free speech is for everyone, no matter what team you’re on.”
That’s the message of FIRE’s short video airing nationwide during Saturday’s Notre Dame-USC game on NBC/Peacock at 7:30 p.m. ET. The ad features two announcers arguing over a football player’s kneeling protest in order to highlight the importance of free speech during our polarized times.
Over the past several years, free speech controversies have erupted across America due to professional athletes’ political statements. While you may oppose or support the message or the athlete’s politics, we should all be able to come together in defense of everyone’s right to speak — regardless of what “team” they’re on.
