In 2018, Florida enacted SB 4, now Fla. Stat. § 1004.097
SB 4 Summary
SB 4 eliminates policies that quarantine speech to misleadingly labeled “free speech zones” and provides a judicial remedy for violations of expressive rights.
Key Provisions
- Prohibits public institutions from quarantining speech with “free speech zones”; and
- Creates a cause of action allowing an aggrieved party to file a lawsuit to enforce their rights under the statute.
