The Social Producer is responsible for developing and producing engaging and educational creative content across FIRE’s social media accounts and channels. FIRE’s Social Producer will also be responsible for using their strong multimedia skills to promote a culture of free speech through various creative projects across various mediums (i.e., long- and short-form video, graphics, podcasts, etc.).

This position will be based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, or Washington, D.C. FIRE operates on a hybrid work schedule that allows for a mix of in-the-office and remote work for eligible employees.

Position Description  

The Social Producer is responsible for developing and producing engaging and educational creative content across FIRE’s social media accounts and channels. FIRE’s Social Producer will also be responsible for using their strong multimedia skills to promote a culture of free speech through various creative projects across various mediums (i.e., long- and short-form video, graphics, podcasts, etc.).

This position will work on FIRE’s Social team, which is hosted within FIRE’s Communications department. It will collaborate extensively with other departments, including the Litigation, Development, Research, and Campus Advocacy teams.

 

Responsibilities for the Social Producer include but are not limited to: 

  • Developing and executing creative ideas and assets for social media content.
  • Monitoring FIRE on various social media platforms and collaborating with the Social team to develop content strategies for FIRE campaigns and cases.
  • Taking content ideas and working with FIRE’s various departments, technical teams, and vendors to make those ideas a reality.
  • Serving as the project manager from content brainstorming through distribution and marketing.
  • Bringing FIRE’s mission to a wider audience through producing and distributing entertaining, innovative, and educational content.
  • Performing other support functions for the day-to-day operation of FIRE’s creative process and Communications department.
  • Collaborating with other staff members and departments on general duties and specialized projects, including but not limited to contributing to FIRE’s Newsdesk.
 

The Social Producer’s performance will be judged on the quantity and quality of their video and graphic multimedia production and their contributions to growing FIRE’s social media presence through engaging, mission-aligned content across all major platforms.

Expected travel for this position is 25-30%. Occasional work on weekends and evenings should be expected.

The expected start date for this position is immediately.
 

Qualifications 

A successful candidate will possess an excellent work ethic, the ability to work independently and on deadline, and — perhaps most importantly — excellent video production and graphic skills. The candidate must also demonstrate a knowledge and passion for FIRE’s mission and an ability to articulate that passion in a way that will make others enthusiastic about our cause. 

 

A candidate must be able to demonstrate: 

  • 2-4 years of relevant multimedia production experience.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and general copy editing skills.
  • Familiarity with the organization's mission and the ability to persuasively articulate the mission to outsiders.
  • The ability to translate difficult legal, advocacy, and research topics into plain English that persuades people to join our free speech movement.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit: the ability to identify opportunities and run with them. 
  • Demonstrated competency across major content platforms (X, formerly Twitter; Facebook; Instagram; TikTok; YouTube; LinkedIn; etc.).
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • The ability to work well independently and with others in a collaborative team environment.
  • Willingness to learn and grow by asking pertinent questions.  
  • Flexibility and creativity during the implementation of a new project.

Preferred, but not required, qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree or substantial relevant experience. 
  • Graphics, video, and/or audio editing skills plus social media management experience.
  • Experience as “on-air” talent.
 

Salary and Compensation

Starting salary is negotiable and depends on experience and education level. FIRE conducts periodic evaluations where employees may receive raises or bonuses for outstanding and excellent work.
