Harassment Policies (Learn More)

Yellow light: Student Handbook: Student Code of Conduct 12-13

Harassment based on any of the following protected classes: gender (including gender
identity and sex), race, color, religion, national origin, age, disability, marital status,
veteran status or sexual orientation. Harassment is defined as conduct that unreasonably
interferes with an individual’s academic or employment status or performance by
creating an intimidating, hostile or offensive working environment or an educational
environment.(Harassment on the basis of these protected classes may include unequal
treatment that is based on prejudiced stereotypes of a group to which that individual
may belong such as objectionable epithets, threatened or actual physical harm or abuse,
stalking, or other intimidating or insulting conduct directed against the individual based
on his or her protected class.)

Green light: Policy Prohibiting Discrimination, Harassment and Retaliation 12-13

For the purpos e of this policy, ha r a s sment is defined as unwe l come conduct
which is based on an individua l ' s protected class (age, color, disability, gender,
marital status, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation and veteran status)
that is sufficiently severe, pervasive, or objectively offensive as to alter the terms
and conditions of employment or substantially disrupt the educational
environment.

the purpos e of this policy, sexual ha r a s sment is defined as unwe l come sexual
advances, requests for sexual favors, or othe r physical or verbal conduc t of a
sexual nature when: ... Such conduct has the purpose or effect of unreasonably interfering with
an individual's work or educational performance or creates an objectively
intimidating, hostile or offensive working or educational environment.

Free Speech Zones

Yellow light: Public Expression and Assembly On Campus 12-13

The assembly area designated as the "Free Speech
Area" on the campus map (see UWF Student Life Handbook) is established as the only campus location for
unscheduled and unorganized public expression. The Free Speech Area may be used by the university
community, including students, faculty, staff, and guests, for unscheduled and unorganized public expression.
without prior registration or approval, providing applicable university regulations are observed.
The use of the Free Speech Area is limited to regular
university operating hours (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.- 5 p.m.).

individually or as officials of registered student organizations, pursuant to the following regulations: ... Distributors must register the distribution (Event Registration Form) and a specimen copy of the
