Division of Student Affairs: Sexual Misconduct and Relationship Violence Statement 10-11

Sexual Harassment:

Any unwelcome sexual advances or requests for sexual favors or any conduct of a sexual nature when:
...
3. Such conduct has the purpose or effect of substantially interfering with an individual's work or academic performance or creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive working or learning environment.
Examples of Sexual Harassment include: unwelcome sexual advances; suggestive or lewd remarks; unwanted hugs, touches, kisses, requests for sexual favors; retaliation for complaining about sexual harassment; derogatory or pornographic posters, cartoons or drawings in an area in which another person is required to go for work or class purposes.

The Student Code: Proscribed Conduct 10-11

Harming behavior which includes, but is not limited to, the true threat of or actual physical assault or abuse; stalking; and/or harassment. In determining whether an act constitutes harassment, Community Standards will consider the full context of any given incident, giving due consideration to the protection of University climate, individual rights, freedom of speech, academic freedom and advocacy. Please note that not every act that might be offensive to an individual or a group necessarily will be considered as harassment and/or a violation of The Student Code.
