Yellow light: Residence Life Community Guidelines: Harassment (Sexual) 12-13

Sexual harassment may occur under any of the following circumstances: ... Verbal abuse of a sexual nature including graphic commentaries about an individual’s body and/or sexually degrading words used to describe an individual; unwelcome and offensive sexual flirtations, advances, propositions; and the display in the classroom, office or work place of sexually suggestive objects or pictures for other than an educational purpose.

Physical abuse or harassment of any person on University premises or at University
sponsored or supervised functions, or any conduct which threatens or endangers the
health or safety of any such person or oneself ...

Yellow light: Residence Life Community Guidelines: Harassment 12-13

Colorado Mesa University prohibits behavior based upon another’s status that has the purpose or effect of creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive working or educational environment. Status refers to race, color, national origin, religion, age, ability, sexual orientation, veteran status or employment status. Behaviors that may constitute harassment include, but are not limited to:
* Racial, ethnic, or other slurs
* Malicious name calling or allegations of wrong doing
* Anonymous notes or phone calls
* Derogatory graffiti
* Stereotyping the experiences, background, and skills of individuals or groups
* Threatening members of diverse groups
* Making inconsiderate or mean spirited jokes
* Imitating stereotypes in speech or mannerisms
* Preventing access to any college resource or activity
* Attributing objections to any of the above to "hypersensitivity" of the targeted individual group

Yellow light: Student Handbook: Sexual Harassment 12-13

Unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical
conduct of a sexual nature constitute sexual harassment when submission to or rejection of this
conduct explicitly or implicitly affects or interferes with a student’s work or academic
performance, or creates an intimidating, hostile or offensive academic or work environment.

Posting Policies

Yellow light: Residence Life Community Guidelines: Windows 12-13

Posting of materials in windows contrary to the educational mission of Residence Life and Colorado Mesa University is also prohibited. Such items include but are not limited to materials that are: items promoting alcohol use, obscene, verbally abusive, racially intimidating, or demean another human being.

Yellow light: Student Resource Guide: Distribution of Literature 12-13

Distribution of handbills, flyers, posters, etc., is a privilege granted to all students. However, the
name of the organization or individual distributing the material must be printed on the literature along
with a contact phone number. Before items may be posted on bulletin boards in classroom buildings,
the Director of Student Life or the Administrative Assistant in each building must approve of the
flyers and stamp the item.

Internet Usage Policies

Yellow light: Student Handbook: Electronic Mail 12-13

Attempts at sending unsolicited junk mail; "for-profit" messages or chain letters is
prohibited.
Displaying sexually explicit, graphically disturbing, or sexually harassing images or text
in a public computer facility or location that can potentially be in view of other
individuals is prohibited.

Green light: Colorado Mesa University Electronic Communications Policy 12-13

College electronic communications facilities shall not be used to: ... Threaten, intimidate, harass, or defame others in violation of College policies or state and federal laws.
