Harassment Policies (Learn More)

Green light: The Compass Student Handbook: General Offenses- Harassment 09-10

This includes, but is not limited to: intent to
harass, annoy or alarm another person; (i) strikes, shoves, kicks or
otherwise subjects him to physical contact, or attempts or threatens to do the same; (ii) follows a person in or about a public place or
places; (iii) engages in a course of conduct or repeatedly commits
acts that alarm or seriously annoy such other person and that serve
no legitimate purpose (PA Crimes Code, 2709); (iv) makes a
telephone call without intent of legitimate communication or
addresses to or about such other person any lewd, lascivious or
indecent words or language, or anonymously telephones another
person repeatedly; (v) makes repeated communications
anonymously or at extremely inconvenient hours, or in offensively
coarse language.

Red light: The Compass Student Handbook: Sexual Harassment Policy 09-10

Sexual harassment in the workplace or
campus/community is strictly prohibited. This includes, but it is
not limited to, unwelcome and offensive sexual flirtations,
unwelcome advances or propositions, verbal abuse of a sexual
nature, offensive displays in the workplace or campus/community
of sexually suggested objects or materials, and any other activity
that could be interpreted as creating a sexually hostile work or
campus/community environment.
The College prohibits such conduct as sexual
innuendoes, sexually derogatory remarks, physical touching, or
graphic displays of sexually oriented materials.
Sexual harassment is any form of unwelcome
sexual advances, requests for sexual favors or other verbal or
physical conduct of a sexual nature. These actions shall constitute
harassment when ... 3) such conduct
has the purpose or effect of unreasonably interfering with an
individual's work or academic/co-curricular performance or
creating an intimidating, hostile or offensive work/College
environment.

Yellow light: Community Living Guide: Community Living Standards and Expectations 09-10

Bigotry and hate cannot be a part of our
College community. While each student has
the right to his/her own personal beliefs,
these beliefs give them no right to denigrate
another on the basis of age, physical disability,
national origin, sexual orientation, race,
sex or religious affiliation. The College does
not tolerate verbal or written abuse, threats,
intimidation, violence, or other forms of
harassment against members of our community.

Free Speech Zones

Yellow light: The Compass Student Handbook: Student Demonstration Policy 09-10

Request must be presented 24 hours prior to time of
scheduled demonstration. Demonstrations shall be restricted to Science
Field, Kelchner Field, Gene Shirk Stadium, or the Library plaza, and
will be assigned according to availability.
