Joanna Brenner

Joanna Brenner graduated magna cum laude from James Madison University in 2009, where she majored in Media Arts and Design with a minor in Creative Writing and served as Editor in Chief of the student yearbook The Bluestone. She has also freelanced and interned for The Washington Times and The Baltimore Sun, and was a journalism intern and feature writer at the Student Press Law Center, one of FIRE's frequent partners in defending student rights. It was at SPLC that Joanna's passion for protecting students' First Amendment rights blossomed—and where she was introduced to FIRE's efforts. Joanna's alternative passions lie in musical theater and film.
