A Pittsburgh student is accusing a community college of violating her constitutional rights by barring her from organizing a group that supports the right to carry concealed weapons on campus.

Christine Brashier says officials at the Community College of Allegheny County have barred her from handing out pamphlets at the school in support of the group, Students for Concealed Carry on Campus.

Brashier is backed by a Philadelphia-based nonprofit, the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education. The group says similar issues have cropped up at other universities and colleges nationwide since the Virginia Tech shooting in 2007.

College spokesman David Hoovler says the college's policy is "people may not bring weapons onto our campuses."
