Subject: CLAHS P&T Guidelines [...]
Forwarding from Debra Stoudt:
Dear Tenured and Tenure-Track Faculty in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences,
The Faculty Handbook requires each college and department to have approved policies regarding promotion and tenure. The College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences did not have such a document, and so we have been working on a draft since the beginning of this academic year. The attached CLAHS Promotion and Tenure Guidelines document already has been approved by the CLAHS Administrative Council and the Office of the Provost. An earlier draft - only slightly different from this one - was vetted by the CLAHS P&T Committee, the Faculty Council, and all of you, as your department chair or head shared the draft and solicited feedback back in October. According to the Faculty Handbook, college policies must be formally approved by the faculty, so you are being asked to vote on the attached document. After reviewing the document, please go to this survey, https://survey.vt.edu/survey/entry.jsp?id=[REDACTED], and cast your vote. If when you click on the link, you are not connected to the survey, please cut and paste the URL into your web browser. The last day to vote is Tuesday, 31 March. If approved, the guidelines will take effect beginning with the 2009-2010 promotion and tenure review cycle. Chairs and heads already have been asked to begin aligning departmental guidelines with this document. My thanks for your suggestions and comments during this process. My thanks as well for your taking the time to vote.
